Maybe Series by Colleen Hoover Overview:
The Maybe Someday series comprises three: a book, a novella, and an overall conclusion kind of book.
The series gives a thorough life experience of Sydney Blake — a girl living a dream life with her boyfriend, happy until she finds out that his boyfriend’s been cheating on her for the last year. Furthermore, Sydney sees her dashing neighbour, and her eyes can’t resist seeing him repeatedly.
Ridge Lawson, her neighbour, became friendly with her. Sydney is talented in songwriting, and Ridge is in a band. They worked together, and that’s how they developed feelings for each other. The neighbour—Ridge, had a long-term relationship with Maggie. The root concept was a love triangle between Ridge, Sydney, and Maggie.
Then comes the short novella—good build-up, good climax, and an appropriate ending. Bridgette is a girl not loved by anyone in her life up to getting into a relationship with Ridge’s bandmate, Warren. They fight a lot and have many problems but in the end… Feelings start developing, and hence, a great story comes out with great thrills and tears in your eyes.
Sydney and Ridge get together as they start understanding each other heartily and emotionally. Bridgette and Warren are also together. Maggie, with her new boyfriend Jake, is also happy. Despite all the chaos at the start, all the girls are happy now.
Leaving the thrillers and twists for you, I can’t spoil your fun and feelings.
Genre and Trope:
The Maybe Someday Series falls under the genres of new adult fiction, contemporary romance, and music. The romance goes from the friends to lovers and neighbours to lovers category.
The trope in the series is the forbidden romance between the main characters. The heat rating lies somewhere between warm and spicey– but I think it’s enough to make your heart feel ~romantic.
Recommended Age Rating:
The series is OK for aged 17 and above. I’ve read and experienced that no one can enjoy more than aged 20 to 35.
For those below 17 (Not recommended), parental discretion is advised.
⚠️The books contain mature content, explicit language, and sexual situations.
Writing Style:
Colleen Hoover tells the story by switching both lovers’ points of view, sharing their thoughts and struggles. The writing also highlights moments when they think the same things but don’t say them out loud, making the story more meaningful.
The writer has filled the story with humor, a bit fun, suspense and a spice of romance.
How Many Books are in the Maybe Someday Series?
Maybe Someday series is a trio of books. It consists of 3 books:
- Maybe Someday [2014]
- Maybe Not [2014]
- Maybe Now [2018]
The series has ended up publishing 3 books in order and there seems no chance for the next one. So you can say, the series is COMPLETED.
Characters:
The series has 4 main characters:
- Sydney Blake: Ridge’s wife
- Ridge Lawson: Sydney’s husband
- Baby Lawson: Unborn child
- Warren Russell: Ridge’s foster brother and Sydney’s foster brother-in-law
Maybe Someday Series in Order:
The series should be read in the following order:
- Maybe Someday
- Maybe Not
- Maybe Now
Maybe Someday is the beginning of the story, which is followed by Maybe Now. The stories are related and connected, so reading standalone is not a good option.
Maybe Not is a companion novella to both other books. Maybe Not is an optional choice; you can still get the story by reading it at last or skipping it. To get the whole juice, read all the books in the publishing order.
Book Summaries:
I have kept these summaries/reviews as spoiler-free as I could.
Maybe Someday:
This book tells the story of a 22-year-old Sydney living a dream college life. She has a great boyfriend, enjoying herself with her best friend and everything is just going clean. A happy life? Nah! This doesn’t last long; she finds her boyfriend is cheating with her and has a relation with Sydney’s friend-roommate.
She is depressed and planning her next move. After all that crap her boyfriend did, she moved to a new place. There comes her catchy neighbor who plays a guitar on his balcony every evening. The books give Sydney and her boyfriend’s point of view so you get to know the feelings and sensations of both perspectives. Sydney and Ridge (her boyfriend) are attracted physically to each other and have a deep connection. This is one of the “Cute contemporary love stories” I’ve ever read.
“𝘞𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵”
Maybe Someday
The point that you may get is that it is healthy to stay in a relationship when there’s someone out there for YOU because of your morals and you do love that person.
Giving this book a 5/5 — I still think it’s less 🙂
Maybe Not:
So, the main characters of this book are derived from the previous book, “Maybe Someday”. Here, we have two characters — Warren and Bridgette, who fall in love with each other after great bumps.
Warren is actually the one who is open to loving, very sweet-natured human beings. Bridgette is the one who has seen life from a negative side, raised without being loved. She doesn’t even believe in something like “Love”. She wants to stay away from all these things.
Eventually, they become roommates. They had many misunderstandings. Both were getting uncomfortable, but Warren knew how to love — and you know what happens next in a love story. They fell in love, not really that easy, but in the end.

Both these characters are related to Sydney and Ridge. You know what to do; read them in order for the full love ride.
Giving this book a 4/5 because I wanted Sydney and Ridge more but got their roles less. That’s just my opinion; you might love Warren’s relationship more.
Maybe Now:
Note: It is recommended that you read the previous books first in order to get the storyline.
The book basically uses four points of view — two male and two female, and it’s so well written that you know who is talking without confusion. Here comes all the characters: Sydney, Bridgette, Maggie, Bridge and Jake — Maggie is Ridge’s ex.
Maggie thinks that she’s going to die soon, so she wants to complete a list of things, including skydiving. Maggie met Jake, a single doctor, and they fell in love. There are some aspects of the story before “Maybe Someday”. Here comes how Ridge and Maggie broke up because Ridge was getting more comfortable with Sydney.
As time passes, the girls solve everything and all the chaos. Everyone has their life partner, their love and the happiness one deserves after hardships. There is an extremely happy and emotional ending.

My Review:
Colleen Hoover did a great job driving her writing skills and sky-rocketed my love and craze for her book.
The writer emphasized everyone’s point of view, so you get everyone’s feelings. The writing style was very, very amazing. If it was just from Sydney’s point of view, I would have liked it less. The book immediately captures the reader’s attention and holds it from beginning to end.
I enjoyed the fact that everything really helps to cover up the story together without making you confused. The book lets you see their feelings and how their relationships were progressing. I praise the series for its deep emotions, trauma, and the love story, making readers feel like they went through a powerful emotional journey.
It’s the small things people do for others that define the largest parts of them.
Maybe Now
The Important lesson you get here is that you have no control over whom you fall in love with, but you can choose whom you will stay with. Loving is common, but staying committed to love is another level thing.
One thing I noticed that could be not very pleasant for you is the slow-burning romance. I also pointed out that the protagonist falls in love with the one already taken. However, it was a great and pleasurable ride for me, so it will be for you.
Overall, giving it a 4.5/5 hearts rating. Wishing you a happy Maybe journey.
Final Thoughts:
Colleen Hoover’s Maybe Someday series is like a warm hug in book form—full of love, friendship, and awesome music. With three fantastic books, it’s a super easy and heart-melting read. If you want a feel-good story that’s simple and sweet, Maybe Someday is the perfect pick. Grab your copy and dive into the warmth of this charming series.
Run and read it!!!
