Hey Fellas! I am here with yet another review for you. When I first started reading “Daisy Jones and The Six”, I was confused if I should continue reading it not due to hearing some mixed reviews about it. But I did, and to be honest it was not all that bad like my friend Alyna told me. I think we partially label a book good or bad on our own reading taste and partially on the plot of the book. What do you say? Well, Let’s begin reviewing this book together.
The book has 368 pages in total and is written by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It is an adult novel which narrates explicit content like drug use and sexual content hence not making it appropriate for children under the age of 18.
Main Characters:
Daisy Jones: Singer
Simone Jackson: Disco Singer
Billy Dunne: Lead singer of “The Six”
Camaila: Billy’s wife
Nicky: Daisy’s husband
Tedy: Daisy and Billy’s Manager
Plot/Summary:
The story is about a music band that was put together in the 1970’s. Daisy Jones is the lead character of the story who happens to be a young and breath takingly beautiful teenage girl. She is fortunate to have born in a rich family but unfortunate to have parents who are least interested in her life. From a young age she begins sneaking from her house and attend late night parties and rock concerts. She got involved in sexual activities and started doing drugs too while going in night clubs. Well, this is not something to be inspired of. Okay?
It was a big lesson for me when I was young—being given things versus earning them. I was so used to being given things that I didn’t know how important it is for your soul to earn them. -Daisy
Daisy meets Simone Jackson at one of the concerts and gradually becomes really good friends with him. Daisy loves music and is blessed with a great vocal cord but hasn’t tried her luck in singing yet. Simone motivates her to begin her career as a singer. A music group named “The Six” is formed by two brothers Billy and Graham. Meanwhile, Daisy starts writing songs and hires a manager Tedy who is Billy’s manager too.
While working he suggests Billy to get their song sung by a female singer and proposes Daisy’s name for this. They form an album together which gets hit. Daisy officially becomes part of the band and it is named as “Daisy and The Six. Daisy and Billy argue on song’s lyrics but gradually they develop an intimate bond between them. Since Billy was a drug addict too so he is drawn towards doing drugs again while he is around Daisy so he starts avoiding her.
“It’s like some of us are chasing after our nightmares the way other people chase dreams.”
Daisy went to Thailand and met a prince named Nicky who was also a drug user. After some time, both of them got married. In the meantime, Billy got married to Camaila and they have a daughter named Julia.
Daisy is interviewed by a newspaper where she discloses about Billy addicted to drugs. This makes Billy furious and he stops interacting with Daisy. But after some time, they begin talking again. In the meantime, Daisy leaves Nicky and is trying to leave drugs and get sober. During this struggle, Billy and Daisy start seeing each other again and Billy also motivates her to leave her addiction.
It feels good to read Billy is trying to get over his negative habit and is motivating Daisy to leave it too. Is the feeling mutual between me and you?

Stories who have a happy ending are my FAV!! How about you?
All I will say is that you show up for your friends on their hardest days. And you hold their hand through the roughest parts. Life is about who is holding your hand and, I think, whose hand you commit to holding. -Camaila
- It is a fun book to read and can attract music lovers since it has song lyrics put together as well.
- The story does not have a lot of characters hence making it simple and less complicated.
- The interview style of narrating story tells the tale from a number of angles which makes it interesting rather than tedious.
- The story is not overly fantasized like usual fiction novels.
- It might not be attractive for readers who are looking for some kind of surprises or spice as the book has a simple and straight story.
- The book could’ve mentioned the consequences of drug abuse, giving readers a reason to avoid using them.
Review:
“Daisy Jones and The Six” is a work of romantic fiction that is written, unlike traditional storytelling. As it is written in the form of an interview where questions are being asked of the characters, I found this style of writing and understood the dialogues without any confusion. If you are someone like me who does not like too many characters in the story, you will like this one. It has few characters with clear roles and dialogues. In short, if you are looking for an easy to read, this one’s can be a good choice.
Although it is a fiction novel, the story and characters feel so real that I had to remind myself I was reading a fiction story and I think that’s the beauty of a good piece of literature. What are your two cents on this?
Conclusion:
The story and characters of this novel are simple yet engaging but to make it more interesting, some plot twists could have been added. The novel beautifully narrates the rollercoaster of romance between Daisy and Billy. One great message that I was able to grasp was that parent’s negligence like Daisy’s can lead to children getting involved in deviant behaviors like doing drugs and getting involved in sexual activities. Do you agree?
So, all in all, “Daisy Jones and The Six” is a light romantic fiction that can be enjoyed if you’re looking for something to read on a lazy Sunday.
There will be no season 2 of Daisy Jones and The Six as the story reaches its closure within this book.
